Dick Weeks Sucks At Life

Nevermind that the Brewers walked way too many batters in this game, and allowed far too many Cub baserunners to even be in the game, Dick Weeks once again cost us a game.

Had Craig Counsell been in the game and turned two on the groundball hit by Derek Lee in the 7th, the Brewers are riding high, leading 4-3 and escaping a tight jam, and quite possibly go on to win the game. Instead Dick showed more flashes of ugliness and made arguably the worst throw I've seen all year. Seriously, the right side of our infield is horrendous defensively. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Counsell or Durham is going to catch a start at second tomorrow.

Seriously, that throw wasn't even close. I really, really, really hate Dick Weeks.

I can't really express how much I hate him. He is so bad. When is it time to give up on him? He can't hit, can't field to save his life - at least easy routine plays - and apparently now he can't throw. You don't see many playoff teams with a leadoff man who's batting sub .230 and is a human error machine in the field. Counsell, Durham, even Joe Dillon, who cares. Those guys aren't going to win games for you, but they also won't cost us games with bad defensive play and awful at bats. I'm so angry at Dick Weeks right now.

And seriously, can this team please learn to score runs without hitting a homerun? Once again, four runs tonight, three solo homeruns. Ugggggggghhhhhhhhhh.

The two walks Torres surrendured came back to kill him when both scored. Whenever you walk a guy late in the game it seems like more often than not they come back to score. It's easy to overreact after this type of game, but another bullpen arm would look really nice right now. So would a second baseman who can hit more than his weight and make routine throws, but how many teams have that?
