Hard Core is speculating that Mota will most likely be designated for assignment. This move is long overdue. Mota has sucked at life for the last month at least. Everyone who tries to defend him and say "he wasn't making bad pitches" like the ball Mauer hit out on him is dumb. The fact of the matter is when he enters games, he gives up runs. At some point that stops being coincidence and "not his fault." Hard Core speculates that Luis Pena could be the guy they call up in his place. Pena is tabbed as their closer of the future and as Hard Core says, has been on fire as of late (15 saves in 17 chances and a 1.78 era in his last 30+ innings).
Pena is probably the most likely, since he is on the 40 man, but it will be interesting to see the route they take. Especially with a guy like Randy Choate down in AAA, although I think they'd prefer to see Choate stretch his arm out a bit more before they call him up.
