Sveum'd?

There's nothing therapeutic about writing about depressing loss after depressing loss after heartbreaking loss, so I'll keep this short as the Crew has now been surpassed by the Phillies in record and is essentially tied with the Mets for the wild card.

Two big things stuck out to me tonight:
1. Braun was held up at third base with two outs on a double by Prince. Needless to say, Sveum would have sent him. Who knows if he would have been safe or not, but there's nothing wrong with making the final out of the inning at the plate.
2. Sveum left Shouse in to face a righty. I was seriously expecting him to let Shouse throw one pitch to Blanco so far outside it was like an intentional walk type of pitch, then lift him for Mota. Nope.

CRUEL JOKE OF THE MONTH
I receive an email from the Brewers reminding me I can purchase my playoff tickets tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Sigh.

You can't lift a reliever after one pitch after you just brought him in. He has to face one full batter.

Huh, I never knew that for some reason.

That actually makes more sense when looking at the situation though. Fukodome, who can't hit anything, much less lefties at the current time was on deck. Walking Blanco should have been the move. Thanks for the insight!

What a tidy little piece of Brewers poetry it is that in Sveum's first game he gets stuck pitching Shouse against a righty. And even though that right-handed hitter is Henry Blanco, it's a year when Blanco is hitting 60 points above his career average and slugging 35 points above his career number.
