So Long Lute

Wisconsin related? No, but very near and dear to my heart. My college hoops allegiances lie with the Wildcats of Arizona. Not exactly sure why, but I've been a huge fan of the team for as long as I can remember. We're talking Steve Kerr, Brian Williams aka Bison Dele days.

After a sabatical a year ago to get over a divorce, Lute Olsen was set to return this year and lead the Cats once again. In news breaking moments ago, ESPN's Dork Vitale reports Olsen is stepping down from the program.

OK, not to sound like a total homer here, but Olsen is one of the all time greats in college basketball. He has a reputation for recruiting extremely well and connecting with kids many generations younger than he is. Granted, his NCAA tournament track record isn't as great, but Olsen is one of the 20 greatest coaches of all time.

I'm not going to devote much more time to this because I'm sure many readers don't care, but this news hit me like Warren Sapp blindsiding Chad Clifton.

Haha, YES! Now 'Zona can really take off! They won't have that perv on the sidelines getting deep sixed in the second round by another 11 seed.

He and Tom Crean can exchange notes about Big Dance futility.

How did I not see that comment coming?
