Looks like Bill Cowher won't replace Eric Mangini as head coach of the Jets. It is believed that one of the primary reasons is the Cowher flat out didn't want Favre as his QB and it is obvious that Jets owner Woody Johnson wants Favre back. Johnson likes having that superstar player that sells jerseys and encourages people to spend absurd amounts of money on PSLs at the Jets new stadium.
I fully realize this blog has taken numerous pot shots at Favre in the past week and over the course of the season for that matter, but here is yet ANOTHER case in which a well respected NFL person, this time one of the most successful coaches of my generation's NFL, thinks Favre isn't worth it. So are the Favre zealots in this state going to place Cowher in their junk drawer with Ted Thompson now too? Don't bother debating it, of course they will. The zealots have zero sense of reality when it comes to news about the Packers former legendary QB. Yet, they'll talk about Cowher being clueless and a power monger and egotistical. The same guy that said out of respect to the Rooney's and the Steelers organization he took to the summit, he will not coach the Browns. The Browns and Steelers are rivals and he wouldn't do that to his former employer that benefited him and his coaching career in so many ways.
Then you have Favre, who was of course justified in wanting to bitch his way of out Green Bay when he is a shell of his former self as a QB, and did everything he could to play for the Vikings. Cowher certainly has an ego, all NFL coaches need one, the job demands it. But there's a gap bigger than the Cowboys new stadium scoreboard between a guy like Cowher and a prima donna like Favre.
Happy New Year everyone, thanks for making this blog fun for all the writers.

Are there no more creative stories to write then rehashing the Brett Favre Saga one more time?
In the end, Favre will always be revered by 95% of the state and to be honest, if we were going to go 6-10 regardless, why not go 1-15 and watch Favre have a 22 TD 45 Int. season. Its better than the run defense allowing numerous runningbacks to look like Walter Payton.
Whats cooler, watching the Titans, Bears, Vikings, etc.. run all over you or watching Favre throw 2 TDs or 6 terrible INTs? Answer is clearly Favre, because you just never know what he might do next good or bad. At least there was a reason to watch.
Now I understand that its better for the future and all that jazz to get A.Rod a year starting but really, who cares when you go 6-10. In the end both teams sucked, so lets move on please.
I'm still waiting for the story analyzing the over/under on whether James "the 350lb sniper" Eayers for UWM would have camped outside for free pizza at the new Toppers. My thoughts are the chances were high
or, we could have watched him call and audible at the goal line vs the Titans, throw a touchdown, cure cancer, and donate the millions of dollars he has accumulated over the years to save the economy before the extra point was kicked. Shit, come to think of it, he should have demanded the ball in games 1 and 4 versus the Phillies. He would have threw a complete game shutout and game winning hr's in both games.
