Views from the Right Field Bleachers

It's the bottom of the ninth inning, the score is tied 2-2, there is a runner on second, and Trotting to the plate is Mr. Destiny. I am not talking about Corey Hart, or John Corey Hart as the brass at the BTB like to call him; I am talking about Trot Fricking Nixon. The man who will come through in the clutch, and the guy who will deliver when called upon.Could he be called upon as an everyday player though? He may have to be.

Corey Hart is not budging from his ridiculous arbitration offer, and the Brewers are standing firm with their counter offer. Gabe Gross is no longer with us, and TGII is more of a center fielder than a right fielder. There are a lot of ifs with the 35 year old Nixon, but if he makes the everyday roster, he will only help the Brewers.

A veteran of the league, Nixon wouldn't wear another team's hat to the airport, or call out fans when he is struggling. He is a guy that has played hard throughout his career, and would run through a brick wall to preserve a victory. When the phrase "I want winners" was coined, Trot Nixon in a Brewers uniform was envisioned. If Corey Hart wants to sit out and cry about 1.1 million dollars that he is owed, I have no compassion for him. If he can't support his family on 2.7 million, he should pick up a part time job in August and September, cause he sure as hell didn't show up for his full time job when he was needed most.

Nixon is a career .274 hitter, and is very capable of learning how to play the area in Miller Park that is right field. He will take pitches, work a count, and battle until the opposing pitcher has no will left. Don't get me wrong, Corey Hart is a nice guy to have in the line up, and his athletic ability is top notch; but he isn't Fielder, and he sure is heck aint Braunny. I hope he worked on plate discipline in the off-season, and he proves me wrong. If he doesn't, the Brewers have a capable replacement, and a hell of clubhouse guy.

Really interesting post, never knew you were such a Trot fan. And your hatred for Jon Corey jacks me up.

Who didn't love Trot Nixon? Conversely, I hate JD Drew for taking Trot's #7.

Good take. I think Trot's going to have to come through more than a few times for us this year. Who would have thought Corey Hart would be the most difficult of the "core"?

what the hell do you know about Trot Nixon's clubhouse personality?

p.s. really liked the rams/packers article.

Here is a link to an outside perspective on what Trot Nixon meant to his last team.

If I were a gamblin man I'd say you were the type of character I'd expect to see on the T.V. show "Growing up Gotti"

Corey Hart is a turd sandwich or a giant douche. I have yet to decide.

Holy Christmas, does no one remember how steller of a player Hart can be? The guys young and suffered a rough second half last season but he's already shown he's more than capable of being an above average right fielder, offensively and defensively. Hart is only going to get better, it just sucks he made some lame comments towards his fans...

we voted harts arse into the all-star game, he had a terrible second half, lacks plate discipline, didnt show up in August and September, and was god awful in Philly.

From what I was told by a very reliable source, there is a reason why he played so awful in August and September. I'd rather not give the reason, but it involves the Children's Hospital.

jnizzle said...

Not one of mention of Corey Hart's Childrens Hospital link until now? In my opinion, that is something that should have been touched on before now. My sources.....hmmmmm

I think that garners its own post JG.

I don't have all the details, nor should I, and I don't feel comfortable writing about that type of stuff.

I just contradicted myself by writing/mentioning it, but some things aren't our business.

True, but i'm guessing it will be mentioned at some point by the "real media." But like that wife of Escobar's email BS, better left unsaid. Ok, done and done.

Seriously, the guy has displayed great plate discipline so far in his career up til the end of last season in which it became unbearably ugly. there was no slow degeneration as if his skills were fleeting, it went from great to awful and I gaurantee you it took a serious/personal event to screw his head up that much. He'll rebound successfully this season, no doubt.

Hopefully Rickie Weeks was dealing with the same things, so his career can finally take off.

Who gives a good god damn about some childrens hospital bullshit. it's a business fuck corey hart and his bullshit. the man's a virtual blowjob when it comes to the plate.

p.s. my sources tell me there was no childrens hospital issue.

Corey Hart, the Canadian singing sensation however, does benifets all the time. specially at hospitals.
